Motorsport legend
Mid-engine turbo hot hatch — Renault ripped out the rear seats and put the engine behind the driver. Rally homologation madness at its purest.
History
To homologate the car for rallying, Renault moved the engine from the front to behind the driver, making the 5 Turbo a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive weapon disguised as a city car. The blistered fenders barely contained the wider track. Jean Ragnotti was unbeatable on tarmac rallies.
