Considered by many the best 5 Series ever built. The E39 achieved a near-perfect balance of comfort, dynamics, and build quality that defined the executive sedan.
History
The E39 M5's 4.9-liter S62 V8 produced 400 hp — the same engine later used in the Z8. Chassis tuning was supervised by test drivers on the Nürburgring, giving the E39 handling precision unusual for its size.
