Italy's MX-5 — a Pininfarina-designed roadster that brought affordable open-top Italian motoring to the world. Produced for almost 20 years.

History

Designed by Tom Tjaarda at Pininfarina, the 124 Spider was Fiat's affordable answer to the British roadsters. Its twin-cam engine was more advanced than anything from MG or Triumph. It was hugely popular in the US, where most of the 198,000 units were sold.
