What makes it iconic
BMW's smallest SUV and the entry point to the X range. The E84 was rear-wheel-drive based — a layout abandoned in its successor.
History
The E84 X1 was essentially a raised 3 Series Touring on a rear-drive platform, giving it handling characteristics unusual for a compact SUV. The xDrive28i's turbocharged four was the sweet spot.
