What makes it iconic

The car that invented the coupe-SUV segment. The X6 was widely criticized at launch, then widely copied by every competitor — the sincerest form of flattery.

History

BMW called it a Sports Activity Coupe. Critics called it pointless. But the X6 created an entirely new segment that Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche all eventually entered. The X6 M delivered 555 hp of twin-turbo V8.
